Highlander Welcome celebrates the start of the new academic year by welcoming new and returning UCR students. It highlights some of the history and traditions of the University, most notably our adoption of Scottish traditions. Weeklong events include a convocation, massive picnic for all new students, hip-hop Block Party, Involvement Fair, noon concerts, giveaways and more.

Parent & Family Day @ Homecoming
Parent & Family Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 14. The day will kick off with the UCR Parents Association Fall Meeting featuring a presentation about UCR’s Healthy and Sustainable Food Initiative. After the meeting, fill your day with fun activities such as Back to Class presentations, Scot Fest, the Homecoming Basketball game and a post-game celebration, Overtime.

Career Corner
17th annual UCR Medical Career Conference
Is your student interested in going into the health and/or medical career field? If so, encourage them to attend UCR’s 17th annual Medical Career Conference on Saturday, October 24th. Interim Dean of the UCR School of Medicine will be there to speak to the students along with alumni panelist from various health/medical industries. Student registration for the event will open next week, the event is free for Student Alumni Association (SAA) members, and $20 for non-members (includes SAA membership). If your student is not currently a member they can join today. To join as a Student to Alumni Lifetime member, they can join here!
Parent Volunteer Opportunity: The Student Alumni Association will host its 17th annual Medical Career Conference on October 24th and need your help. We’re looking for one or two professionals with at least 10 years of experience in the following industries:
  • Physical Therapist, Trauma/ER, Physician Assistants
If so, the Student Alumni Association is looking for Assistant Programming Board Members. Stand out in an organization that is over 500 students strong! As an Assistant Programming Board member your student will work closely with alumni, work behind the scenes to create great events, have a great resume builder, and be given networking opportunities. Students can learn all about how to apply here!
