Get Involved and Get Rewarded

Volunteering with the UCR Parents Association is a great way to earn participation points towards the coveted "Reserved Seating" section at your student's Commencement ceremony. Each volunteer activity is worth one point. You can also earn half a point (per person) just by attending a Parent Meeting!

Highlander Summer Orientation, various dates: UCR Campus

Staff the Parents Association Table - Time: 12:15 - 1:30 p.m.

Hand out information about the Parents Association and speak to parents of incoming students about any questions they might have.

Dates: July 23; August 13

Family Q&A Session - Time: 1:40 - 3:15 p.m.

Share your positive experiences as a parent of UCR student. Help answer questions about experiences with your student's transition into college life.

Dates: July  24, 27, 31; August 3, 7, 10, 14

Residence Hall Move-In Day, September 23: UCR Campus

Staff a Parents Association table and welcome incoming students and their families during the UCR residence hall move-in day. Select a three hour shift and earn one point per volunteer. This will be a fun day and another opportunity for you to tell parents of new students what they can expect in the first year. Please contact for more information and to sign up.

available shifts: 7:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m., 10:00 a.m. - 1 p.m., 12:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

 Fall Parent Meeting, November 17: UCR Campus

 Assist with check-in at the Fall Parent Meeting as part of Homecoming. Volunteer shift begins at 9:45 a.m.

Did you know that you can also earn a point toward reserved seating at Commencement by sharing you story? Our Parent Spotlight rotates about every other month. Here we share the stories of Highlander parents from a range of backgrounds. Contact for more information.

Additional volunteer opportunities available through the SAA Career Exploration Conferences and Dinners with Alumni taking place on the UCR campus. You don’t have to be alumni to share your experiences in your industry with current students and young alumni. Click here to learn more.
