Volunteer Opportunities
Get Involved and Get Rewarded
Parent volunteers are needed for the following activities. Earn participation points towards the coveted "Chancellor's Reserved Seating" section at your child's Commencement ceremony. Each volunteer activity is worth one point.

Volunteer Opportunities

Parent of the Year Committee
Parents who participate on this committee are asked to read essays submitted by students nominating their parents for Parent of the Year. Essays will be mailed to you mid-March. You will read the essays and score them and then return the score sheet.

Student Recruitment
Scholarship Celebrations: March 9
Parent volunteers staff a Parents Association table, answering questions from potential UCR parents as they visit the campus with their students. -
Commencement
Friday, June 14, afternoon ceremony
Saturday, June 15, morning and afternoon ceremonies
Sunday, June 16, morning and afternoon ceremonies
Monday, June 17, morning and afternoon ceremonies
Parents play an important part in Commencement and we need your help! As a volunteer, you help make Commencement memorable through different roles such as: selling t-shirts and programs throughout the ceremonies, providing general information to guests and offering assistance to faculty, staff and students. There are many ways you can get involved and show your pride for UCR! -
Highlander Summer Orientations
Parents are needed to help out at this summer’s Highlander Summer Orientations for incoming students and their parents. There are two ways you can participate:
Staff the Parents Association Table—Time: 11:45 am—1:00 pm
Hand out information about the Parents Association and speak to parents of incoming students informally about any questions they might have.
Dates: July 10, 16, 19, 22, 25, 30, August 2, 5, 8, 12
Participate on a Parent Panel—Time: 1:45 pm —3:05 pm
Speak to incoming parents as part of a parent panel, talk about your experiences as a parent of a UCR student and answer any questions they might have
Dates: July 11, 17, 20, 23, 26, 31, August 3, 6, 9, 13
